This trip is about Budget Traveling to the Philippines. I booked a budget flight to Manila with Cebu Pacific Airline and board. Many vacant seats were available and slept on it. My flight was landed at Terminal 3 of Ninoy Aquino International Airport, Manila. After clear immigration, I exchanged money at the airport and got the highest rate available which was 1 USD = 51.87 PHP and the rest have 51.85, 51.75, 51.51, etc.

Budget traveling to the Philippines offers a unique and fulfilling experience. The archipelago comprises over 7,000 islands, each known for its breathtaking views, rich culture, and friendly locals. It can be the perfect destination for travelers on a tight budget, which is why it’s becoming increasingly popular. With affordable activities, inexpensive food options like vegetarian dishes, and low-cost flights, the Philippines can provide you with adventures that won’t break the bank.

Getting Around the Philippines

Cheap Flights

One of the best ways to explore the Philippines is by taking advantage of budget airlines. Cebu Pacific is renowned for its cheap flights, making it easy and affordable to hop between islands. For example, you can find a 16 USD flight from Manila to Cebu with ease, allowing you to see more of what the country has to offer without spending much.

Additionally, if you’re flying internationally, you’ll most likely land at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (MNL) in Manila. This major hub has various budget airlines operating domestic flights throughout the Philippines.

Now, my domestic flight from AirAsia from Manila to Cebu was from Terminal 4, so, I took the Airport shuttle bus for 20 PHP and it was reached in 20 minutes.

Local Transportation

Once you land, getting around is straightforward and economical. You can take a shuttle bus from Cebu Airport to the city for just 20 pesos. These buses are not only affordable but also convenient, providing a hassle-free way to start exploring right after you land.

In cities and towns, tricycles, jeepneys, and taxis are widely available and can take you to local destinations for a fraction of the cost compared to other countries.

Affordable Places to Stay

Finding reasonable accommodation in the Philippines is no challenge. Budget travelers can find plenty of options:

  • Hostels and Guesthouses: These can range from 10-25 USD per night, offering a great way to meet fellow travelers.
  • Airbnb: An affordable way to stay in local homes, providing a unique experience.
  • Hotels: Look for budget hotel chains that cater to travelers wanting comfort without the high price tag.

Must-See Destinations with Stunning Views

When budget traveling to the Philippines, don’t miss out on these breathtaking spots:

  • Banaue Rice Terraces: Known as the “Eighth Wonder of the World,” these terraces offer stunning landscapes that you won’t forget.
  • El Nido, Palawan: With its crystal-clear waters and limestone cliffs, this area is a paradise for nature lovers.
  • Cebu: Aside from being accessible via cheap flights, Cebu offers beautiful beaches, canyoneering, and rich history.

Consider taking domestic flights to reach these beautiful locations for a nominal fee or use ferries, which can also be quite economical.

Useful Tips for Budget Traveling to the Philippines

  1. Travel Off-Peak: Prices for flights and accommodations drop significantly during off-peak seasons (May to November).
  2. Use Local Transportation: Reduce costs by using buses, jeepneys, and ferries instead of private taxis.
  3. Plan Your Itinerary: Focus on a few areas instead of trying to see everything. This minimizes travel costs and allows for a more enjoyable experience.
  4. Stay Updated on Deals: Sign up for newsletters from airlines like Cebu Pacific for updates on cheap flights and promotions.
  5. Consider Travel Packages: Sometimes, booking in packages can save you money on attractions and accommodations.

Conclusion

Budget traveling to the Philippines can be an enjoyable and cost-effective way to explore this beautiful nation. With cheap flights, affordable local transportation, delicious vegetarian food options, and stunning destinations, you can make the most of your trip without overspending.
