Budget Trip to Malaysia

I recently travelled to Malaysia, from China for just Rs 45,000 for 15 days including 4 domestic flights & the cheapest flight in the World also included in my budget trip to Malaysia. This blog includes all expenses flight tickets, accommodation, food, transportation, tourist places tickets, etc. Read my travelogue for details:

My travel plan was from Shanghai to Kuala Lumpur and Kuala Lumpur to Shanghai. I purchased separate AirAsia flight tickets from Shanghai to Kuala Lumpur for Rs 10,840 ($78) and from Kuala Lumpur to Shanghai AirAsia flight for Rs 9,220 ($66).

Budget Trip to Malaysia Plan

My journey in Malaysia was 15 days and I visited Kuala Lumpur, Langkawi, Kuala Perlis, Kuala Kedah, Penang, Sungai Petani, Melaka and Johor Bahru and I successfully did my budget trip to Malaysia.

How did I Travel to Malaysia?

I usually explored all the places by public transportation including the Metro and Bus. I travelled to Kuala Lumpur for FREE by FREE GoKL Buses. I enjoyed travelling in a fully automatic Metro (stay at the driver’s place, no driver in Metro because fully automatic) to see the day view of Kuala Lumpur city. But, I get a Taxi in necessary conditions in Langkawi and in Johor Bahru for Ringgit 25 and 7, where I never find any hitchhike or public transportation.

Shanghai to Kuala Lumpur with AirAsia

I purchased an AirAsia flight for Rs 10,840 from Shanghai to Kuala Lumpur.

How to reach Kuala Lumpur City from Kuala Lumpur Airport ??

AirAsia operates at Terminal 2 of Kuala Lumpur International Airport. I landed at Terminal 2 (KLIA 2).

The cheapest way from KLIA 2 to Kuala Lumpur city centre
OR
Airport to the city centre by bus in Ringgit 12

How I Exchange Money into Ringgits ??

I withdraw Malaysian currency from ATMs at the Airport.

Where did I stay in Malaysia ??

I always try to travel on a budget and prefer to stay in hostels. Hostels are cheaper than hotels and have an opportunity to meet and greet budget travellers from all around the world and listen to their travel stories, and experiences. I am a good listener and very much interested in listening to travelogues. Firstly, I booked a hostel near Petaling Street, Kuala Lumpur for Ringgit 15 per night including breakfast.

What did I eat in Malaysia ??

Malaysia is an Islamic country so you can find Halal food everywhere. Malaysia has various cultures from all over the world. Many Pakistanis, Indians, and Bangla people are already there and they have restaurants. Pakistani food is expensive compared to Indian food. I like Daal and rice and it is cheaper in Ringgit 4 or 5. But, if you want Pakistani Biryani it starts from Ringgit 12 onwards. I visited a Pakistani restaurant near a Metro station, it just ripped me off with a bill of Ringgit 20. Whenever I can’t find a restaurant, usually I buy food from Supermarkets which are cheaper than restaurants. I never purchased a single bottle of water in Malaysia. I always drink tap water. Just carry an empty bottle of tap water.

Exploring Kuala Lumpur

I met a traveller at Kuala Lumpur airport, and we waited for Bus. She had a 12-hour layover time in Kuala Lumpur. We started exploring together. We have the same Bus ticket to Kuala Lumpur City from Kuala Lumpur Airport. The bus took 1 hour and 15 minutes to reach Kuala Lumpur city.

We both didn’t have a SIM card and no navigation. I know how difficult without travelling GPS or the internet. At least after asking so many people and travellers, we reached Petronas Twin Towers. The temperature of Kuala Lumpur city was too hot around 35 degrees Celsius.

How to get to Batu Caves in Ringgit 2.60 ??

There are 200 steps to hike and you can see Giant Buddha at Batu caves.
