A transit visa is a visa that is valid for a very short period. An airport allows travelers to pass through the airport’s international area without entering the country.
A visa is not required to enter India for Nepal and Bhutan nationals.

Travelers need a transit visa just in case they have a connecting flight at Delhi, Mumbai, or Chennai airports to a third country. The High Commission of India, Pakistan issue single-entry transit visas and double-entry transit visas. You can only transit through Delhi, Mumbai, and Chennai airports.
You have to mention the city from which you are transiting. The transit visa will only be valid for the mentioned city. You can only stay in the city of entry for no more than 36 hours on every visit.

Required Documents for Transit Visa
If you want to apply for a transit visa, you need to submit the following documents:
Valid flight tickets: Air ticket clearly shows the flight details as well as the transit time at a particular city, either Delhi, Mumbai, or Chennai.
NIC Card: A copy of the NIC issued by Nadra alongside its English translation (if in case you have a NIC in Urdu) and the translated copy must be notarized.
Utility Bill: While applying for a transit visa, a copy of any utility bill, such as an electricity bill/gas bill/ landline telephone (or anyone mentioned as address proof) must be attached
Polio Vaccination: Also, attach a valid Polio vaccination certificate.
How do I apply for an Indian visa from Pakistan?

Can I enter India through the land border?
No, you cannot. If you have a transit visa, you cannot enter through a land border, such as the Wagah border in Lahore, and get an international flight from Delhi.
