While sitting in an airplane, we connected to Wi-Fi without any mobile number and the wifi speed was fine. And almost walked 01 km in the airport to reach the immigration counter. Before immigration, there were some facilities like drinking water, seating, and toilets.

Immigration was so easy but too crowded at the immigration counter to get a little late.

Just remove flight mode from your mobile phone and get connected to FREE WIFI without any hassle, Speed is pretty fine, as your flight stops at Kuala Lumpur airport. Now, get off the airplane and walk approximately 01 km to reach the immigration counter. You have accessed some facilities that are cool drinking water, seating, and toilets while walking towards immigration.

Keep an empty bottle with you and refill it at the airport. It is also helping to save the environment by using no plastic bottles. I used the washrooms to get fresh because I landed at the airport at 08:00 early in the morning.

There is a counter after immigration with the name “Ask Me”, which means you can get any help if you don’t understand something. They are so nice and sincerely helpful.

WITHDRAW MONEY FROM ATMs at the Airport

There are several ATMs installed at different banks at the KLIA 2 airport after immigration towards the airport exit gate. I used CIMB Bank to withdraw money and it charged RMB 15 (USD 2). I withdrew RM (Ringgit) 600 and used a Chinese UnionPay card to withdraw money. RM 600 was enough for my 15 days of travel to Malaysia.

The distance from Kuala Lumpur airport to the city center is about 60 km (37 miles). You can travel by Sky bus, KLIA Express train, taxi or hire a private car.

Differing on the route, transportation modes, and traffic conditions, the time to cover this journey is about 35 minutes to 1 hour and 15 minutes.

The KLIA Express train is the fastest option to reach KL airport city center as it only takes 35 minutes. The bus is the best option for budget travelers like me. The cheapest way to reach the city center is by bus which takes 1 hour and 15 minutes.

KLIA to KL Sentral by Bus

There are some counters to purchase a ticket or bus or book a taxi at the exit gate of the airport. There is a written on the counter in English for booking bus or taxi tickets. Sometimes there is a long queue and you have to wait for a while.

The ticket price is RM 12 ($2.6) for the bus. They usually do not make a change of RM 100 just for a single ticket. I went to nearby shops for a change. The people are pretty nice and they gave me change. It’s better to keep change hassle-free if you are a solo traveler.

Come outside from the exit gate and wait for a bus for a few minutes in a designated area. I stand at platform No. 6 which is written on the ticket or you can ask from staff.

The ticket for children between 3 to 11 years is RM 6 ($1.4) and below 3 years travel for free.

I visited thrice Kuala Lumpur and traveled to the city center by bus always at RM 12 ($2.6). But you will save a little more by researching further. Some buses like the Sky bus will cost RM 11 ($2.35).

At platform No. 6, I met a traveler, who was from Iran and had a layover of over 8 hours in Kuala Lumpur. She also doesn’t know how to get to Kuala Lumpur city center by bus in the cheapest way like me. So, we accompanied together and got on the bus. We visited Petronas Twin Towers and the Chinese market together.

The lockers are available at the airport for luggage storage at the cost of RM 30 ($6.4) per day. She put her luggage at the airport because she had to go to Indonesia.

The bus is pretty fancy and air-conditioned. The weather in Malaysia is hot and humid so better to have an air-conditioned bus. The bus will take 1 hour and 15 minutes to reach the city center which is usually called KL Sentral.

KL Sentral is a pretty busy metro station and mall. City bus, FREE go KL bus and you can get every city bus from here.

The bus operating hours are from 3 a.m. to 9 p.m. from KL Sentral to KLIA and 4:45 a.m. to 10:45 p.m. from KLIA to KL Sentral. Please always check the latest schedule before going.

Once I arrived at KL Sentral to take a bus to KL airport. I got the bus ticket for RM 7 ($1.5) instead of RM 12.

A taxi is best if you are traveling with 3 or 4 persons in a group or you are traveling with luxury. A taxi or grab from Kuala Lumpur Airport to the city center will cost approximately RM75 ($16) from onwards. You have to pay tolls too. Taxi will charge 50% extra after midnight from 12:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m.

Book a taxi from the airport counter at KLIA2 will cost RM 75 ($16).
