Driving License Categories
MC License
MC stands for Motor Cycle. It is only available to drive a Motorcycle.
MCR License
MCR stands for Motorcycle Rickshaw. It is not valid for cars.
LTV License
Light transport vehicle driving is valid for commercial use. LTV vehicles are car-taxi, minibus, and lightweight transport.
HTV License
A heavy transport vehicle driving license is valid for buses, trucks, trailers, cranes, and any other heavy type of vehicle.
Motorcar/Jeep License
Motorcar and Jeep driving licenses are issuances for non-commercial use.
PSV License
It is valid for public service vehicles.
How to obtain a driving license?
Any citizens male/female with at least 18 years of age, can apply for a driving license. Just visit at Driving License Branch (DL Branch). But, it is mandatory to get Online Pre-Appointment. After a successful pre-appointment token, the applicant must visit the concerned DL Branch.
The minimum age should be 18 years for Non-commercial, 21 for commercial, and for HTV license should be 22 years age is mandatory.

How to get Pre-Appointment
It is necessary to get an online pre-appointment. If you apply for a pre-appointment today, then you will get the next working day’s appointment. No document is needed for Online pre-appointment.

Learners Driving License
There are three categories of a driving license. Learner’s Driving License, firstly, if you are making a driving license for the first time. DL Branch issues your learner’s driving license without any test. It is valid for 1 year.
The required documents for an International driving license are a Valid CNIC original, Valid passport/visa, and domestic driving license.

Permanent Driving License
After 42 days or 1 year of learner driving license, you can make a Permanent driving license. This is the main license you need to drive a vehicle. To obtain this you have to pass an MCQs type test of 25 questions, requiring 18 correct answers for obtaining 72 marks out of 100 marks. Also, pass the physical test. A physical test consists of, a doctor will ask you about some alphabets and colors and you have to answer by closing one eye. He will see you, whether are you recognizing or not. Also, you have to pass the road test. It is valid for 3 to 5 years.

International Driving License
This driving license can be used to drive a vehicle abroad. There are 3 Driving License Branches that issue International Driving licenses throughout Sindh.

Step by Step Guide of Computerized Driving License
Issuance of a computerized driving license is a lengthy and complicated process.
- 1. Online Pre-Appointment
- 2. Front Desk for verification of pre-appointment and they give you another token number
- 3. Go to the Photocopy shop inside the Branch
- 4. They give you a form mentioned following: (Medical, Physical & Computer Test) and give you an application by charging Rs 20 rupees.
- Go to the office, Officer will give you a challan
- Pay the Challan in another office
- They sent you to the DSP (inside the branch) 3 times, first for permission to apply License, 2nd for Medical and 3rd you have cleared all tests
- Computer Test: Total 25 questions and must be 18 correct answers for pass.
- Medical Test: Dr. will ask you some English alphabets from distance of more than 6 feets and also asks for clours.
- Physical Test: Officer will bring you outside the branch and tells you to ride or drive your vehicle (1 or two small round).
